This leading specialist reseller of Wireless and Network Security systems have a vacancy for a
a Network Security Support Engineer at their new offices right next to the train station in Theale.
The Network Security Support Engineer will be a key member of their Technical Services Department. Your role will be to provide in-depth support to customers and manufacturers for the effective use of the company`s security products. The job will involve the following responsibilities:
1. Evaluation of new products
To test new products against their specifications and against their customer expectations, and communicate with manufacturers to resolve problems or shortcomings.
2. Pre-Sales support
Provide technical support for projects to Sales staff, typically involving travel to customer sites. This will involve understanding customer technical requirements, recommending solutions, and creating technical proposals for presentation to customers.
3. Post-Sales Support
Diagnosing and resolving technical issues for customers who have purchased products. It is probable that this will take 30% of the day.
4. Training
Preparation of training materials, including diagrams, notes, etc typically in Powerpoint. Subsequently delivering formal regular training courses to customer`s technical staff; courses would typically be run 1 to 3 times per month, for 4 to 6 students.
5. Support Documentation
Generating FAQ`s, Application Notes etc for customers and other support staff to use.
6. Audits
The company intends to develop a range of security services, including audits. You will be required to help formulate procedures, and to audits customer`s systems and document the findings.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
a. Thorough technical understanding of the principles of networking and datacomms.
b. Expert knowledge of Security products, techniques and applications.
c. Experience of providing efficient pre- and post-sales support.
b. An overall knowledge of the networking and communication market, products, applications and customers.
The ideal candidate will have:
a. a minimum two years experience in a Support environment.
b. familiarity with the types of security products sold by them.
c. Writing skills sufficient to be able to create high quality documentation and training course materials.
d. an outgoing, presentable and patient manner when communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues even when under pressure.
e. the initiative to work effectively with minimal supervision.
f. ambition to succeed.
This is a great role and will suit someone who wants to work for a small (60 staff in entire company) but rapidly expanding company in new offices right next to the train station in Theale - if you like variety - this role is for you.
